Your privacy is our highest priority. This Privacy Policy describes how YouTube Watch Insights ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Chrome extension and dashboard.
1. Information Collection and Use
YouTube Watch Insights is designed around privacy-first principles. We collect and process the following categories of data:
- User Activity (Watch Time Metrics): The extension logs the active video playback state and duration on YouTube to calculate your watch statistics.
- Website Content (Video Titles & Creators): The titles, video IDs, and channel names of the YouTube videos you watch are processed to compile your top creators and revisited video analytics.
- Onboarding & Browser Preferences: We store your browser type preference to optimize download and installation instructions.
2. Data Storage and Synchronization
By default, your watch history logs and metrics are stored locally in your browser's private storage.
If you choose to sync your account with the Cloud Sync Dashboard, your metrics (history logs, subscription counts, comment counts, and likes counts) are synchronized and encrypted to your personal user account database hosted on our secure servers on Railway.
3. Third-Party Services and AI Integration
- Return YouTube Dislike API: We query the public Return YouTube Dislike API using only the video ID to fetch estimated dislike counts. No personal identification data is sent.
- Google Gemini AI API: The AI Personality Mirror queries the Google Gemini API directly from your browser. We do not store or transmit your Gemini API Key or your watch details to any intermediate server; queries go directly to Google's Generative Language endpoints.
4. Data Selling and Transfer
We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your personal data to any third-party marketing companies, advertisers, or credit-rating organizations. Your data is used exclusively to display your habits dashboard.
5. Data Deletion
You can delete all of your synchronized history, subscription logs, comments logs, and settings at any time by clicking the "Wipe All Account Data" button in your dashboard's Settings panel.
